Self Care: The Dark Side - by Shelly Prosko

Self care is something I've written about a few years back, learning to add different aspects more deliberately into my day, through the work of Dr Sara Gottfried and also Lisa Grace Byrne from Well Grounded Life. One of the posts was called "Start with one small thing for your self care", with explanations from Lisa saying: This is like putting in one fence post and getting that one fence post in place, before adding more things.

A favourite saying from Dr Sara Gottfried's courses is "Small hinges swing big doors", where she talks about making one small change such as nutritional tweaks or adding in yoga poses, will have "downstream effects". Over time adding in one thing at a time it becomes easier to bring into daily and weekly life, on a more regular basis.

This week I read a blog post by Canadian Physical Therapist Shelly Prosko about redefining self care giving her insights from her research and reflection. Shelly says:

"To me, self-care is more of an approach; a philosophy and a dynamic process, that guides your every moment and is constantly changing".

Shelly talks about some deeper elements of self care which stimulate the need for ongoing review and times of reflection, through her Blog called Self Care: The Dark Side.

Thank you Shelly for allowing the share of this link here.

It's fascinating to watch ourselves change and interpret things in different ways as we gain different experiences over time, isn't it?
